Privacy policy
In short: everything Koita Reels records stays on your phone. The app has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere. There are no accounts, servers, analytics, ads or third-party tracking. We (the developer) never receive any of your data.
What the app does
Koita Reels counts how many reels and short videos you watch in Facebook, Instagram, YouTube (Shorts), TikTok and Snapchat, and for how long, so you can see your own daily, weekly and monthly numbers and share them if you choose.
Accessibility Service
To count reels, Koita Reels uses Android's AccessibilityService API, which you switch on yourself in Android settings after an in-app explanation and your consent.
- It only looks inside Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat, and only to notice when a reel or short is on screen and when you move to a new one. When any other app is in front, it only notes which app it is, so it knows you left the reels.
- To tell one reel from the next, it briefly reads on-screen labels such as the creator name and the start of the caption. This text is turned into an anonymous code in the phone's memory and is never saved or sent. Only the app name, the time and how long you watched are saved.
- It never reads your messages, passwords or what you type, never records the videos, and never taps, types or changes anything for you.
- You can stop it at any time with Stop recording in the app, or switch it off completely in Android's Accessibility settings.
Information stored on your phone
- Your name and email, entered when you set up the app. They are stored only on your phone. Your name appears in the app and, if you leave "Show my name" on, on the story images you create. Your email is not used for anything else and is never sent.
- Reel records: which app, the date and hour, and the watch time for each counted reel.
- Settings: your language, chosen card colour and similar preferences.
- A screen capture for fixing detection, only if you tap "Capture screen for a fix" in Settings. It describes one screen of a reel app and may include the text visible on that screen. It stays on your phone unless you tap "Share capture" and choose where to send it.
This data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are turned off for Koita Reels.
Sharing
Koita Reels does not collect, sell, rent or share any personal data. A story image or a screen capture leaves your phone only when you tap a share button, and it goes only to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook). What happens to it there is covered by that app's own privacy policy.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your phone until you delete it. To delete all counts, open Koita Reels → Settings → Erase all counts (this also deletes any screen capture). Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on any server.
Children
Koita Reels is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them; it does not collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
